Biography

James Allen “Arkie” Lairmore, age 74, died suddenly on November 2, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 28, 1937 to H.A. and Faye Lairmore in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
A Navy veteran, Jim was a member of VFW Post 3338 and American Legion Post 531. Jim was an over-the-road trucker over 40 years, with 3 million safe miles. He was proud to be a union man, as a member of Teamsters Local 20, retiring in 2002. Arkie loved to fish on Lake Erie, and was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carole, affectionately known as “Charlie”; children, Tim and Gary (Amanda) Lairmore, and Cindy (Jason) Pruss, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Todd, Tim, and Troy (Tonya) Honsberger, all of Toledo; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his dogs, Pebbles and Kramer. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.A. and Faye Lairmore.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 11 a.m. to 7p.m. on Thursday, November 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 708 South Erie St., Toledo. Funeral Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Lung Association, or to the family.
