BiographyRosetta Rosetta Laney, age 71, also known as Rosie or Mickey, died on January 30, 2010, at Arbors at Sylvania. Born to Pastor George Jones and Fannie Griffin Jones on May 7, 1938, she gave her life to Christ at an early age. Rosie was a lovely lady who enjoyed cooking and sewing and entertaining all the neighborhood children in her home. While she was a homemaker most of her adult life, she also graduated from Davis College, majoring in Business Management and Accounting and later attended Stautzenberger College. She is survived by daughters from her first marriage to Russell Patterson, Cindy Alexander, Sharon (Garfield) Grant, Vicky (Clifford) Bibbs, Connie Patterson, Judy (Michael) Smith and Juanita (Ellis) Bentley; grandchildren, Heather and Alecia Patterson, Ashley, Burrow IV and Alexis Alexander, Sydni Grant, Clifford Jr. and Anya Bibbs, Jered Patterson, Sharia, Sharelle and Cyrille Smith, Aaron and Jordan Bentley; great-grand children, Kalep and Tyler Evans, Nylen Patterson, Ayden Alexander, Shariyah Robinson, and Caprise Arnett, Jr. ; sister, Anna Jones; brother, Theodore Jones and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Laney; infant son; sisters, Eddie Redmond, Rebecca Humphrey and Ora Lee Walker; brothers, Jerry Jones and Alvin Jones and special friend, local blues musician, Marshall "Big Jack" Reynolds. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8pm at Blanchard - Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111). Services will be conducted on Friday at 11am, preceded by the Wake at 10am at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Toledo, Rev. Cedric Brock, officiant. Burial, Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Arbors at Sylvania Rehabilitation Center for their care for the "Diva of the Nursing Home", with special thanks to Melissa, Driya and Gail.
