Biography

Vera M. Allen (Van Denk) of Toledo, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at home. She was born August 6, 1924, in Richwood, OH to Mr. and Mrs. Carlen (Elma) Borland. She graduated from Scott High School and was employed at Tillotson Mfg. Co, worked in real estate sales and Sharon Mfg, retiring in 1989. She was a long time, devoted member of Monroe St. Methodist Church and volunteered at the Friendly Center.

Survived by her husband, Edwin Judson Allen; son, Gregory Van Denk; daughter, Susan Rajagopalan; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Mary Van Denk. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen Van Denk; sisters, Mary Lou Clark and Sandra Pate; brothers, Carlen Borland and John Borland.

Friends will be received at Blanchard - Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Monday from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 1:30 PM at Monroe St. Methodist Church (3613 Monroe St.). Entombment, Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania. Special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
