Roy Gerald Pearson, age 83, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 10, 2010, at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH. Born in Chicago, IL, April 23, 1926, to John and Elna Pearson. He was a veteran at World War II, stationed in Vienna, Austria, where he met his bride of 65 years, Hedy. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Illinois. His career then led him to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he earned another bachelor's degree in Business from American International College. He then transferred to Toledo where he received his master's degree in Business. He eventually retired from The State of Ohio, Environmental Protection Agency. He was a very active member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee for 50 years. He belonged to The American Legion Post and also the V.F.W. He was one of the founding volunteers for the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Hedy; brother, Norman, (Leanne); daughter, Debbie Burton; son, Norman' grandchildren, Jessica (Marc) Kull and Brittany (Kelsey) Noll and four great-grandsons, Jaden, Kaden, Bryce and Kelsey Jr.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne, St., Maumee, OH 43537. Family requests, no flowers please. Donations may be made to either St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, 223 S. Fearing, Toledo, OH 43609
