Life Legacy


James S. Tomaszewski, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. During college basketball season there was nothing he enjoyed more than watching the Duke Blue devils. He passed on peacefully after the 1st half of the Duke game in the company of his sons and grandsons. The son of Stanley and Mary (Bardzikowski) Tomaszewski he was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 3, 1940. After High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and attended the Army language school in Monterey, CA. He served as a Crypto Logic Linguist in Morocco, North Africa and was a fluent linguist in both Russian and Polish. He retired from the Toledo Board of Education as a school bus driver. Jim was also a big Notre Dame football fan and an avid fisherman. From the Florida Keys to Lake Erie he loved to spend a day on the water with his sons. A loving soul with a big heart he would give more than he had to help a loved one in need.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy (Kajfasz); his children, Craig (Debbie) of Erie, MI, Dan (fiancé' Dina) of Pemberville, OH, Mike (fiancé' Barb) of Maumee, OH; grandchildren, Steven, Justin and Max with one on the way; mother-in-law, Delores Kajfasz; brother-in-law, Donald Kaczala; sisters-in-law, Connie Simerall and Karen Burns and mans best friend and his loving dog, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary; sister, Carol Kaczala and father-in-law, Daniel Kajfasz.

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or Services. The family would like any memorials made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Special thanks to all the caring and compassionate nurses at Hospice
